Sketch Block -October gross candy corn

  • Under St. Marks 94 Saint Marks Place New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

Welcome in October. I'm sure it won't get to cold out because of climate change.........That's scary. ANYWAY, Sketch Block is a comedy showcase that gives sketch troupes an opportunity to perform without the pressure of bringing in an audience. Also, Sketch Block does not force their audience to pay for drinks. We believe that it's your choice to drink or not. It's about the comedy and networking!

Sketch Comedy meets Block Party. This monthly show features a guest host comedian, three guest sketch troupes and drinking. Come meet, mingle, and perform.

This is who will show off this month

Harrison Greenbaum
Harrison began performing stand-up comedy while studying psychology and English at Harvard. A summa cum laude graduate, Harrison was the co-founder of the Harvard College Stand-Up Comic Society (or "Harvard College SUCS," as the group's name is cheekily acronymized), the first organization at Harvard dedicated to the performance and appreciation of stand-up comedy and one still popular on campus today.
Harrison has also received many awards and honors for his comedy, including the Andy Kaufman Award (2010) for creativity and originality in comedy, the Shorty Award in collaboration with Comedy Central and the New York Comedy Festival for "Best Emerging Comic" (2011), and the Magners Comic Stand-Off (2011). http://www.harrisongreenbaum.com/

Artie Brennan -

A NYC born actor & improvisor. He has played the bagpipes on The Today Show, Dj'd to crowds in the thousands, jumped from a plane, and swam with sharks twice! His love of comedy landed him at The Upright Citizens Brigade where he studied improv & sketch comedy with several masters including Matt Walsh (Veep) and Ian Roberts (Key & Peele), two of the founding members.  http://www.artiebrennan.com/

Amanda Ariel “Peggy” Xeller -
A writer, improviser, and clown residing in New York City. Her solo work has been featured in the Sketch Republic, was a part of the L.A. Scripted Comedy Festival, NYC Sketchfest, Philly Sketchfest, and was named a “stand out” and “audience favorite” at Montreal Sketchfest ’15 by Mobtreal. She recently headlined the sketch night of this year's Ladyfest. She improvises in several shows at the Annoyance Theatre. She co-heads the annual Lady Sketch Lab and co-produces Ringers at the Magnet Theater.
Amanda grew up across the street from an alligator filled bayou in Houston, Texas. She wishes she could sing like Justin Hawkins.

Picklebacks -
A webseries in development that is written, directed by, and starring Gabby Bryan as Chuck and Maren Lavelle as Portland. Gabby also runs a viral sketch troupe called Bulb Comedy and Maren doubles as a playwright. The webseries came about after the realization of the common human flaw of always falling in love with the wrong people. Selected scenes from the webseries have been adapted for a live performance.

Terrorbird-
The only sketch comedy group in New York City named after an extinct species of non-airborne bird. They perform monthly at the PIT Loft, and in an hour delve into the depths of whatever theme they've decided to do that month. Kelsey Grammar is a self professed "how did you get this address?". https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGTbiN_K0b6n15_9m5Gc7Gg
