Disco Demolition Night

On July 12, 1979, rock and roll radio deejay Steve Dahl turned Comiskey Park into the largest anti-Disco rally in the history of mankind. This play, first produced at the Annoyance Theatre NY, recreates the events of that big dumb infamous night in all its shame and glory. It’s got professional baseball players, the methamphetamine pills known as “greenies”, rock parody about the Ayatollah, a live organist, Bill Veeck, outdoor sex, the White Sox TV intro from 1979, and SO MUCH MORE!

The Annoyance Residency: Disco Demolition Night

ABOUT THE ANNOYANCE RESIDENCY
Continuing its longstanding record of bringing the best emerging comedic talent in the country straight to Philadelphia audiences, PHIT Comedy is excited to be partnering with the famous Annoyance Theatre's New York branch This April for a series of eight performances across every weekend of the month. PHIT and Annoyance have partnered to bring shows to Phillly since 2007 and this special month-long residency is a celebration of their decade-long collaboration.

AT THIS ANNOYANCE RESIDENCY SHOW…
The Annoyance presents Disco Demolition Night!

On July 12, 1979, an ill-fated radio promotion turned Comiskey Park into the largest anti-Disco rally in the history of mankind. Explosive shock jock Steve Dahl filled the stadium beyond capacity with his “anti-disco army,” comprised mostly of the beer-swilling and grass-smoking teens who listened to his radio show and wanted to see some disco records detonated. Anyway, things got violent.

Written by Charlie Walden. with Deanna Arthur as Tommy Snediker, Dave Bluvband as Bill Veeck, Dan Hanf as Jimmy Snediker, Ben Hosley as Ticket Guy/Cop, Shannon Kintner as Lorelei Shark, Catherine LeClair as Nancy Faust, Fernando Mateo, Jr as Rusty Torres, Bill Schaefer as Chet Lemon, Micah Sterenberg as Johnny Snediker, Jessika Stocker as DeeDee, Sam Taffel as Kowalski, Charlie Walden as Steve Dahl, and Amanda Xeller as Maryann. Directed by Ryan Douglass.

Get tickets here! phitcomedy.ticketleap.com/the-annoyance-residency-disco-demolition-apr-15-2017/

ABOUT THE ANNOYANCE
Since 1987, in six different locations in Chicago and now New York, The Annoyance has created over 250 shows, comprised of improvisation, sketch, full-length plays, cabaret, and full-length musicals. Hundreds of people have performed in Annoyance shows, and you see many of them today on stage, in films, and on television. Bad Habits - Series Finale

Bad Habits - Series Finale

BAD HABITS was a weekly social experiment / improvisational show.

Each week, the cities most degenerate, despicable, and deplorable improvisers were split up into two groups and challenged to give up OR indulge in their BAD HABITS for the sake of comedy.

*****

When BAD HABITS began, no one thought it would last more than a month. Not only that, the word around the block was negative. The Post printed YUGE headline on the cover that read: " 'BAD HABITS' IS A BAD FOR YOU" and Paul Krugman wrote an op-ed in the Times that was about the financial burden this show would be for many middle class patrons.

LIES -- they lied and lied and lied. But we showed them. Not only did we show them, but BAD HABITS became THE show to see every sunday night for over four months. It was a triumph, a miracle, a spectacle of the stage.

Who could forget the very first show, when the cast gave up cigarettes and coffee? Or the no masturbation episode: now that was a classic! This show has touched the lives of hundreds of people...and maybe, it's even changed a few too.

This Sunday is the Series Finale. While the future is unclear for BAD HABITS - can you ever get rid of a BAD HABIT? wll this show go on after the Annoyance - what is clear is that you must attend this final performance. Bring your friends, your family, your children. This is going to be an event on par with the Bealtes performing on Ed Sullvan. Or at least the last episode of "Fraiser."

Bad Habits: Irish Goodbyes & Jewish Goodbyes - 2 SHOWS 2 GO

BAD HABITS is a weekly social experiment / improvisational show.

Each week, the cities most degenerate, despicable, and deplorable improvisers are split up into two groups and challenged to give up OR indulge in their BAD HABITS for the sake of comedy.

***

It's the end of a long, long day. You've been out hanging with some friends, maybe partying, definitely drinking. It's past your bedtime and you haved ended up at some overcrowded bar you don't like or at the apartment of a person you either dislike or don't know. "What are you doing?! Why are you doing this to yourself?" you wonder. You decide to leave but know that if you do , you'll be forced to stick around and depart with your group. Quite the predicament. What do you do?

Some recommend you do something called: "Ghosting." Others call the this move a "French Exit." But I've always referred to this phenomenon as the "Irish Goodbye." The Irish Goodbye: You leave without saying a single word to a single person. The expression has stereotypical and negative connotations, but for some reason it hasn't stopped anyone from using it.

Funny enough, there's another stereotypical expression that exists as the antithesis to the 'Irish Goodbye" known as the "Jewish Goodbye." What is it? Well, if you're Jewish this should come as no surprise. It is when you are departing a social setting and say goodbye to everyone, except, you never actually leave. Some times it lasts an hour, other times it lasts the whole night. Being Jewish, I can confirm this is a real thing.

For this weeks show, the cast has been split up into two different groups: The Irish Goodbye and the Jewish Goodbye.

For sure, "Brokeback" is about gay cowboys and, dude: RHCP are gods. But why is it everyome is freaking out bout "Humpdy Bump" and Jakey G humping Heathy Ledge? I think we gotta talk this one out the only way we know how: BAD HABITS STYLE.

Nighttime Surprises

Aging-boy-cum-late-night-host David Bowers wants the simple things in his talk show — a monologue with breezy and tepid laughter, a couple of interviews with some bland panelists, end early enough to grab a beer with his sidekick, and absolutely no characters. David Bowers will not get what he wants.
